Ruukki delivered the steel structures, composite columns, load-bearing sheets and sandwich panels for the walls. Ruukki’s delivery included of design and installation of structures and products. The ability to design, deliver and install a large number of steel structures and steel products was one of Ruukki’s strengths in this project. If the customer had chosen separate contractors to deliver the steel frame, composite pillars and sandwich panels, there would have been multiple numbers of subcontractors at the construction site.
Mall of Scandinavia has a floor area of 101,000 square metres over 7 to 9 storeys and houses 175 shops and 43 restaurants. The complex is also home to Sweden’s biggest cinema. BREEAM, the world’s leading environmental and sustainability performance assessment standard, has certified Mall of Scandinavia with an excellent rating and it is one of the very few shopping centre projects in Europe with this high certification.
