Nordec is actively involved in the Laakso Joint Hospital project; implements the frame of the northern part of the main building of a giant project.

After competitive tendering, Nordec was selected to participate in the development phase of the project in 2022. In the weekly workshops, the frame solutions of the project’s main building have been actively developed, and the feasibility and scheduling of the project have been considered and optimised together with the other parties in the alliance.

The main building has mainly 8 floors and a gross area of 95,000 m2. The implementation phase agreement now signed concerns the northern part of the main building, approximately 58,000 m2. Nordec’s steel frame factory production is already underway and installation work on site will begin in January 2024.

Nordec participates in the design control and design of the steel frame of the main building together with the main contractor SRV and Unitas (AFRY, AINS Group).

The scope of Nordec’s delivery includes the manufacture, delivery and installation of the steel frame in the northern part of the main building at the site, as well as the installation of concrete elements supplied by Lujabetoni Oy, including seam and casting in site and the delivery and installation of the steel frame of the  HVAC room.

Ilkka Hätönen, Project Manager of the alliance subproject of Laakso Joint Hospital, on the cooperation: “Nordec has been a flexible partner for the alliance. With Nordec’s expertise, we have together achieved financial, qualitative and scheduling targets. This provides an excellent basis for starting implementation.”
