This is BIG!

Within Nordec we have a great history of making large buildings come true for our customers. But this, this one is BIG. 580 m long, 175 m wide and 30 m high. In other words, huge.

Let us proudly present that we at Nordec (yes, we have a new name) have been chosen as the frame contractor by Logicenters for the continued development of what will become one of Europe’s largest logistics facilities. The building is located in Bålsta, just outside of Stockholm and is developed for the tenant Dagab.

The scope of Nordec design and build -delivery consists of steel frame system, complete roof structure and wall structures including façades and partition walls. The roof area is approximately 102 000 m2 and total wall area almost the same.

“It is great that the development of our facility in Bålsta is on track. It was not easy finding a company able to deliver the amount of steel required for our facility in accordance with our tight schedule. It is therefore gratifying to have now begun collaboration with Nordec which meets our high standards in terms of both quantity and quality of deliveries,” says Eva Sterner, Head of Development at Logicenters.

The groundworks and casting of the concrete foundations are currently under way. Parallelly we at Nordec are performing the structural engineering and manufacturing of the structures in its factories in Finland, Lithuania and Poland. In June we will enter the site and begin raising the frame and façades. Works will be completed by the end of September 2021.

“At Nordec, we are proud to be part of Logicenters’ ambitious logistics development. Like Logicenters, we believe in a sustainable approach to what we do and therefore take care to ensure that the products we are now producing for the facility meet the high standards required. The fact that the collaboration is for such a large amount is, of course, also a feather in our cap,” says Magnus Thelm at Nordec.

“It is great to see that we are seen as the most capable and suitable contractor for logistics buildings in this scale. It proves that the work we have done past years with logistics segment is being recognized” says Sampo Haapoja at Nordec.
