Fabrication, Surface treatment and installation
Our automated production processes, appropriate, functional facilities and 100-tonne lifting capacity ensure efficient fabrication of large bridge elements. Finished structures are surface treated at the factory in line with the standards ISO 12944 and EN 1090-2. Our surface treatment uses steel grit blasting, wet painting and zinc spray galvanizing.
Coating systems approved by the relevant authorities are used for the surface treatment of bridges. The top coat is added either at the plant or on site.
We work together with the customer to develop and design the best installation solutions for each project. The most common bridge installation methods are launching and crane installation.
Our experienced project managers work together with the worksite team to execute a safe and controlled installation.
NORDEC Easy Bridge
NORDEC Easy Bridge® consists of steel girders, a concrete deck slab, and two abutments made of concrete or steel. All structural parts are available as prefabricated elements, and concrete structures can also be cast on site. The bridge is installed on either new or old foundations, which may be, for example, large diameter piles or concrete support structures.
NORDEC’s support material for design includes design instructions and drawings of the superstructure, complete with deck and abutment solutions. The extent of the delivery is agreed on for each project separately.
The CE-approved steel structures manufactured at the company’s factory in Ylivieska meet all the European quality and safety requirements. The bridge is designed in line with the Eurocodes and guidelines issued by the Finnish Transport Agency. Prefabricated components are safe to install.
The bridge’s design life is 100 years. The surface treatment is made in controlled plant conditions to ensure paint coating performance and long-term durability. The steel structures are also available in weather-resistant steel, no painting needed.

Welded I and Box Girders
Welded girders can be designed and optimised for different purposes. Welded girders and beams are designed and optimised per project in order to achieve the best possible solution.
Welded girders are most commonly fabricated into I-girders (IG) and box girders (BG). Our automated welding lines and advanced production methods ensure fast, high quality and reliable deliveries. We fabricate and complete each girder ready for installation as required by the client. We take care of the transport of the girders to the construction site and promise to deliver the product in the right place at the right time.

- Both symmetric and asymmetric box girders are available.
- I-Girders i.e. WI-Girders are fabricated and designed according to the project, and they present a competitive alternative to rolled profiles.
