Nordec responsible for structural scope in the Hitachi Energy expansion in Ludvika, Sweden

Nordec is responsible for the structural scope in an expansion at Hitachi Energy’s site in Ludvika, Sweden, under contract with Tommy Allström Byggproduktion AB (TAB). The project is carried out alongside ongoing operations and supports the Ludvika site’s role as one of Hitachi Energy’s key hubs for power transmission technology.
The project continues the established cooperation between Nordec and TAB across logistics and commercial developments in Sweden. The delivery is based on prefabricated elements and a phased installation plan to ensure progress on an operating site.
“The project takes place next to ongoing operations, which requires careful coordination. Together with Nordec, we have aligned the structural solutions and installation sequence to maintain site operations while ensuring a high level of safety. Cooperation and trust have guided the work from the start,” says Tommy Allström, CEO, T.A.B.
Nordec’s delivery covers the structural design, production and installation of the main frame. Façade elements are included for the server hall, and roof structures for both the server hall and the office building.
“This project combines office, visitor and technical buildings within an active industrial environment. Careful sequencing between the different structures and installation phases is important to keep the project progressing safely and according to schedule,” says Minna Kuusela-Opas, SVP, Multi-storey, Nordec.
Structural design work began in late 2025 and installation started in March 2026. Nordec’s scope is scheduled for completion by the end of August 2026, while the main project phases are expected to be completed by mid-2027.
The office and visitor buildings are designed to meet the requirements for LEED Gold certification.
