Nordec’s Certified ISO Quality and Environmental Management

Steel structures from Nordec are designed, produced and installed with professionalism, quality and care. Nordec has certified quality and environmental management systems according to the ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.

ISO 9001 is a Quality Management System (QMS) standard that supports a systematic approach for providing consistent quality in organizations. Nordec uses the standard to demonstrate the ability to provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.  The certified quality management system ensures continual improvement of our processes and performance, supports increased customer satisfaction, and helps us achieve our quality goals.

ISO 14001 is an Environmental Management System (EMS) standard that provides a systematic approach for measuring and improving environmental performance. Our certified environmental management system is used to identify and manage environmental risks and opportunities, comply with environmental obligations, and achieve our environmental objectives.

The ISO 9001 and ISO14001 certified management systems show our commitment to delivering high-quality products and services, while minimizing environmental impacts. The certificates also provide assurance to our clients that we are a reliable and responsible partner for building projects.

Certified management systems ensure continuous improvements at Nordec

Nordec Group is proud to announce that our EHSQ-certification now covers all services and operations.

All activities and operations are now gathered under the same certification

We have decades of accumulated knowledge and experience in designing, fabricating, and installing frame structures, envelopes, and bridge structures. Quality, health & safety, and the environment have been priorities for us since the beginning. Now, all activities are gathered under the same certification by Kiwa Inspecta, according to the ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 standards.

The new extension of the certification covers our entire Envelope business unit including sales, design, project execution and production. Our Alavus site produces thermoelements, glass-aluminium facades, glass roofs and cladding products.

Also included in the extension are our Nordec construction AB industrial projects in Sweden and Norway, previously covered by a separate certification.

Quality is incorporated in our services throughout the value chain

For us, quality encompasses everything we do. We follow a systematic quality process in all our projects. By creating separate quality plans and inspection records for design, sourcing, production, and installation, we ensure that customer expectations are met at all levels.

Our steel structure producing units have the right to CE-mark and hold certificates of factory production control according to the obligatory EN 1090-1 standard. Our certification allows us to produce structures up to highest requirement level, execution class 4 (EXC4).

In addition, our installation activities are certified according to the voluntary EN 1090-2 standard. This means that our products and services fulfil the most rigorous demands. All our welding activities, including in the installation phase, are certified according to the EN ISO 3834-2 quality standard for fusion welding of metallic materials.

Excellent achievements regarding safety

We are highly committed to safety. Our goal is zero accidents, injuries, and work-related illnesses. We believe in leading by example and ensuring that all employees and contractors have the necessary knowledge, training, and equipment to work safely. We systematically identify and eliminate root causes of accidents and near misses.

This year, we are pleased to report having achieved a nearly 50% reduction in lost-time injuries compared to the previous year. With preventive actions in co-operation with our subcontractors, we have together managed to reduce the number of lost-time injuries to roughly a one-third from 2020 levels.

Helping our clients achieve their environmental goals

We continuously search for ways to minimize our environmental impacts. Our priority is to identify and implement ways to reduce our carbon footprint. At the same time, we help our clients to achieve their carbon reduction goals.

We have Environmental Product Declarations (EPD’s) for our products, and tools to conduct life-cycle assessments (LCA) for our projects. All our production sites use electricity from 100 % renewable resources. Scrap metal from  our production continues its life cycle as part of circular economy. Our improved painting systems have achieved reductions in in the use of chemicals and VOC-emissions.
